“Winnie the Pooh” Trailer Hits All the Right Notes

As a professional curmudgeon, it's easy to just roll the eyes and groan at the thought of Disney trotting out "Winnie the Pooh" for another payday, but we just watched the trailer and were pleasantly not outraged. Which for Monday morning is pretty good.

The art is gorgeous and the voices are great. Better still, while the clip is almost completely devoid of plot, the tone is just about perfect. It appears that The Mouse has resisted the temptation to crank up the energy/volume/nonsense that pervades so many animated films.

The film, which comes out stateside on July 15, will be based on five previously unadapted stories from the original books, and employs the same watercolor backgrounds used for previous "Pooh" films.
