Polanski's “Ghost Writer” Trailer Set Free

Say what you will about Roman Polanski's personal life, the man can direct a movie. So when the trailer for his new film crops up, it's incumbent on you to give him at least two minutes of your time -- even if it does contain some adult language that's a wee NSFW.

"The Ghost Writer," based on the Robert Harris novel "Ghost," has an impressive cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams, Kim Catrall, Tom Wilkinson, Eli Wallach and Timothy Hutton. Hell, it's even got James Belushi.

We as a people have suffered mightily at the hands of McGregor over the past decade or so. Since the promise he showed in Danny Boyle's "Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting," it's been a long, slow descent into mediocrity. A peek at his Rotten Tomatoes ratings chart tells a sad story (that crater is largely the product of "Eye of the Beholder," one of the worst movies of the Aughts).

Polanski on the other hand is a gifted genius, so hopes are high for this political thriller that makes its debut at the Berlin Film Festival next month and should be coming to our shores later this year.
