Today, Radiohead announced the release date of their eighth album, The King of Limbs. In the band’s typically disestablishment fashion, it is very, very soon: this Saturday.
The sudden release date isn’t the only experiment for the band, however; The King of Limbs is being billed as the world’s first “newspaper album,” an high-end package laden with extras. They include:
* Two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.
* A compact disc.
* Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
* The Newspaper Album comes with a digital download that is compatible with all good digital media players.
* One lucky owner of the digital version of The King of Limbs will receive a signed 2 track 12" vinyl.
The King of Limbs will be shipped on May 9, but the digital download is available for on February 19 to everyone who pre-orders the record. Price in the States is $48-$53, with a digital-only presale available for $9-$14.
