New York Dolls to Visit Best Buy in Union Square

There is no overarching message in this about the foreboding nature of capitalism, death of protopunk, etc., so don’t bother looking. This is just the “Personality Crisis” glam jockeys pushing their new album, Dancing Backward in High Heels, next to discounted box sets of Arrested Development on March 15 at 6:30pm.

Sez the band:

Be one of the first 300 people to buy their new album, Dancing Backward In High Heels, at Best Buy Union Square starting at 12:01 am on Tuesday, 3/15 and you will receive a wristband which guarantees admittance to the event. Arrive early. Space is limited.

March 15 also marks the release day of Dancing Backward. The Dolls play the next day at a slightly more familiar venue. Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are still on sale. Then they’ll tour, assumedly to venues other than big box stores in Europe and Asia.

The Dolls now feature ex-Blondie guitarist Frank Infante. Lead singer David Johansen is rumored to not completely hate him yet, so that’s good.

[UPDATE: The Dolls aren't performing at Best Buy, just signing autographs.]
