Are people going to understand what he’s saying with his accent?”

That’s Tinie Tempah talking to Rolling Stone last month about fears that his runaway success at home in the U.K. wouldn’t translate on U.S. soil, but after mopping the stage with other acts at Coachella, we’re thinking he can rest easy.

His single “Written in the Stars” (video below) is sitting at No. 15 and climbing on Billboard's Hot 100, making him a pretty good contender for household-name status on our shores very soon—an achievement that’s fairly rare for a British rapper.

Up next in the 22-year-old’s bid for world domination: A whirlwind tour of Manhattan in support of the U.S. release of his album Disc-Overy on Tuesday.

Catch him at two back-to-back public performances tonight--the Apple Store appearance is free and open to the public; stop by beforehand for a wristband--and on Letterman tomorrow.
