Jay-Z and Kanye Are the Throne, Announce Tour Dates

Wrangling over whether "Jay and Kanye" or "Kanye and Jay" better rolls off the tongue? Don't bother. Going forward, the duo will simply be known as the Throne, an awesomely conceited moniker in its own right, made even more awesomely conceited by their album title -- now literally a directive to look at them. Even by rap standards, it's rare to demand attention so explicitly. Yeezy and Hov either don't mind the immodesty, or they know you're watching anyway.

In any event, Watch the Throne has been moved back one week to an Aug. 8 release, though it's a good bet that the album actually comes out on that date -- the same probably can't be said for the Aug. 29 release of Tha Carter IV.

And the Throne will be officially available for watching -- live and in concert -- on Sept. 22, when the pair kick off an tour at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. If there's anyone who can make a spectacle out of an arena show, it's West, whose 2008 Glow in the Dark tour set a high-water mark for big-time rap shows that's yet to be matched.

And while Madison Square Garden is under renovations, the Throne will play twice at the Izod Center on Sept. 27 and 28.
