Governors Ball Music Festival Lineup Announced

Some dance parties are meant to be intimate gatherings of close friends in sweaty Bushwick lofts where jungle juice is consumed in risky quantities and the following morning’s walk of shame is taken with a crooked smile and a black coffee. Govenors Ball is not one of these parties.

Govenors Ball Music Festival is for the professional party animal. This is not for the casual customers of dance music; this is for the A-team. So veteran party people need to breakout your camo-cargo shorts, dust off your kandi beads and buy a new pacifier because June 18 is meant for you. Take warning young bloods – the 12 hour festival will be a test of endurance so all you kiddies who typically sprint to inebriation need to pace yourselves.

The day long festival boasts dance party approved powerhouses Girl Talk, Pretty Lights and Empire of the Sun, but the good times don’t stop there. Big Boi (of the hip hop duo Outkast) and Mac Miller will hold it down for the B-boys while Neon Indian, Miami Horror and Reptar represent for the indie kids. The bill rounds out with People Under the Stairs, Outasight and a DJ set from Passion Pit. The festival organizers made it a point to note that there will be no overlapping sets so concertgoers will not be forced to decide what sets they will want to see.

Appropriately, The Governors Ball will take place just south of Manhattan on Governors Island which means folks will need to pay special attention to the directions on how to best beat the crowds and arrive while peaking on their drug of choice. Tickets for the event go on sale Thursday, February 24 at 10am.

Below is a video the organizers put together for the announcement. Funny enough, the video appears to be taking a crack at some of their target demographic. Hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at?
