Dirty Projectors Tickets on Sale at Noon

Tickets will go on sale here at noon today for The Dirty Projectors' July 10 performance at the Prospect Park Bandshell.

This will be the first performance in about a year for the slanted-pop group, who toured like beasts in support of their 2009 breakout Bitte Orca, and seemingly played New York every few months, either opening for TV on the Radio or headlining a free show at the Williamsburg Waterfront.

But the band has been out of the spotlight since opening for Phoenix at Madison Square Garden in October 2010; we can only assume that songwriter Dave Longstreth has been using the downtime to write even more time signatures that are so MIT-graduate student complex  and origami-precise that they again push through to the other side and become funk monsters, somehow.

The group has reportedly been working on a new album.

The Projectors' show will be part of the Celebrate Brooklyn series, which reliably brings together a wide variety of acts to do their thing in the summer sun. Or rain, occasionally. The full schedule for the series has not yet been announced.
