Craig Finn, Full Eyes Can't Lose

Like all human beings with a working heart, Craig Finn was a fan of the dearly missed, recently departed NBC football drama "Friday Night Lights." So much so, in fact, that The Hold Steady songwriter has named his previously announced debut solo album Clear Heart Full Eyes, a jumbled reference to Coach Taylor's famous pep talk line "Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose." Not only do we have a title now, but we can also tell you that the album will be out on Jan. 24 via Vagrant. We have a tracklist below and, once again, would like to remind you that you can pick up his new single "Honolulu Blues" on "Black" Friday, November 29.

Finn recorded Clear Heart in Austin, Texas with Spoon/Trail Of Dead producer Mike McCarthhy so it's understandable if he was in an especially FNL-heavy mood. Members of White Denim, The Heartless Bastards, Phosphorescent and Centro-matic all play on the album, which promises to be a more subdued affair than The Hold Steady. Also, even though The Hold Steady don't have Franz Nicolay in the group, they're still doing their thing and should have an album out next year as well.
