By late June, most good-hearted people will be deep in to a "Community" withdrawal. So by then it will be good for the soul to get to see Troy Barnes...er...Donald Glover...er...Childish Gambino (hard to keep those all straight) in the flesh.
The multi-talented Glover plays Barnes on the beloved cult comedy and performs stand-up comedy around the country.
He also records kaleidoscopic, punchline-heavy raps (almost all of which are too dirty to quote here) as Childish Gambino.
Critical responses have been mixed, as is usually the case with actors-turned-musicians. But unlike most, Glover has an actual fanbase buying his stuff.
He will play Prospect Park as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn series on June 26. Tickets go on sale here on Friday.
Childish Gambino will join previously announced Celebrate performers Jimmy Cliff, Laura Marling, Dirty Projectors and Hot Chip for what is shaping up to solid summer for the always lively Brooklyn festival.
