DJ Mia Moretti: There Are Pitfalls to Being An “It” Girl

DJ Mia Moretti may have been dubbed an "It" girl, but it's not a moniker she necessary wears proudly.

"I think someone once said, 'You never want to be an 'It' girl because then you're an 'out' girl," Moretti told Niteside last week. "I'm just lucky that I can work and make a living doing what I love."

Morretti teamed up with pal and electric violinist Caitlin Moe to provide the soundtrack to Paper Magazine's 6th Annual Nightlife Awards at Good Units last Thursday. The much-hyped pair won in the category of Best DJ.

"As long as I can perform, I'm lucky," she said.

Moretti, happy to set up shop atop turntables, said her favorite anthem right now is Katy Perry's single "Peacock." She also digs her pal's soon-to-be-hubby.

"I love him," she gushed. "He's amazing."
