Kanye West has ducked the spotlight since storming the stage and interrupting teen country starlet Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards last year-- but he's been busy straightening himself out, his pal and former DJ said this weekend.
"He's great," A-Trak told Niteside Saturday at the after party for Shepard Fairey's May Day exhibition at 88 Palace in Chinatown.
The DJ said he still speaks to West "regularly" and attributes the star's resilience to his forward-thinking nature.
"His mind is very healthy and I think it keeps him a couple steps ahead of everybody else," A-Trak said. "So people might think he's like one way or another way but his mind is strong enough to keep him on the right track.
