Wintry Conditions Linger into Spring, Storm Possible Sunday

While Friday may officially be the third day of spring, it still seems like winter in the tri-state area.

Fridays high will top out at 43, but blustery winds are making temperatures feel like they're in the 30s. The average high for this time of year is 52. Conditions are expected to improve some over the weekend, with more sunshine and highs in the upper 40s.

Some computer models are showing a coastal storm developing Sunday night into Monday, bringing wet accumulating snow to part of the area. However, the reliable European model has the storm sliding out to sea, just to our south. We’ll continue to follow the storm through the weekend.

The weather pattern looks to turn slightly milder after the storm departs Monday evening.

Though March is only running 2.1 degrees below average, when you compare it to last March, conditions seems incredibly cold. Temperatures in March 2012 averaged 8.4 degrees above normal and there were 17 days with temperatures 60 degrees or higher. This March we have yet to reached 60 degrees.
