Severe Thunderstorm Watches Issued in Tri-State

Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for much of the tri-state as a fast-moving weather system that battered the Midwest Sunday moves over the area.

The system was expected to bring thunderstorms, wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and steady rain, but there were no reports of severe weather in the area as of 6 a.m.

The storm wreaked havoc in the Midwest Sunday, causing multiple tornadoes that ripped through towns in several states, killing 6 and injuring dozens more. The storm has diminished in strength considerably since then.
