Renovations: On the UES, Prada Paints It Black

While Prada's Upper East Side store on Madison Avenue and East 70th Street will forever be in the shadow of their Rem Koolhaas-designed Soho flagship, they're at least trying to spruce up during this lull in the economy.

Prada will remain open during the construction work, but their Madison Avenue entrance is closed and all windows are completely blacked-out to hide any embarrassing construction dirt. Customers are being directed over to their East 70th Street entrance, where we peeked in and didn't see anything exciting except for lace mannequins and leather bags hanging out underneath dust sheets. Somehow we doubt that the new look of Prada UES will be much improved.
