Finders Keepers in Jersey Jewelry Giveaway

If you came across a piece of fine jewelry that appeared to be hidden in a gift bag, would you keep it?

"I would give it back," said Jennifer B., of Glen Rock, N.J. “No, honestly I would.”

Not so for Robert Fruger, of Walwick. "Honestly, I'd keep it depending on what the jewelry looks like," he said.

Well, If it's a white bag from Devon Fine Jewelry in Wyckoff, N.J., they want you to have it.

"It's yours. Finders keepers, no strings attached," said Devon owner Nancy Schuring.

The former school teacher is giving away $25,000 worth of jewels to help celebrate the store's 30th anniversary.

"I never thought this would happen,” she said. “It has a very good feeling. When you give more, you feel better."

The store is placing the bags in visible locations around shops, restaurants and other public places, Schuring said.

The items will be hidden throughout Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Midland Park, Franklin Lakes, Waldwick, Allendale, Mahwah, Ramsey, Oakland, and Glen Rock -- and those towns' police departments have already been given the heads up to be aware of the bags.

Inside every bag, there's a letter that says, "This is yours to keep. We'd just like for you to contact us and let us know you found it."

And, yes, all the jewelry is for women but fellas don't worry, if you get your hands on a piece like this one, it could make a good holiday gift.

"They're all for women, but we can make any gentleman that finds it look really good,” said Schuring.

"You don't have to pay anything for your girl,” said Fruger with excitement. “So you're hooked up with that."

So good luck... and remember, finders keepers.
