Faster, Brooklynite! Shop! Shop!

How does Brooklyn hope to cash in on the day-after crowd? Deals, discount, special offers, the hard sell and changing one word for another. File this under ideas that are so stupid they're brilliant: Just change the name "Black Friday" to "Brooklyn Friday" and all those people flooding stores the day after Thanksgiving will magically come to Brooklyn. As if it were it just that easy, an fellowship of just about every Brooklyn borough  business organization has launched a "Shop Brooklyn" campaign. Only the Blog Knows reported on the launch of the  launch of the campaign today at Fulton Mall.

Not only will there be holiday discounts borough-wide as part of the “Shop Brooklyn” campaign, many Brooklyn retailers, restaurants, bars, and other service providers will offer special “Brooklyn Bonuses” on November 28 (“Black Friday”—now renamed “Brooklyn Friday”) and each weekend from November 23 through December 21.

The Shop Brooklyn coalition will launch a website to direct bargain hunters to the Kings County deals, but they better step on it, as of today there was still no website.

Brooklyn Industries has been pimping its "Buy More, Save More" sale hard lately, ever since the Obama masks came down. So does stocking up at their Union Square pop-up count as Shopping Brooklyn?
