Another Store-As-Art Project: Soho's Betelnut Girls

One vice that hasn't yet gone global: Betelnut, the addictive stimulant sold in Taiwan by half-dressed girls in glass booths. Starting tomorrow and going on and off until a week from Sunday, artist Annamarie Ho will recreate a betelnut booth with a hired actress on Cleveland Place, around the corner from La Esquina. Her goal is to explore the class and gender dynamics of the betelnut girl phenomenon, but we think she might also make a killing in betelnut sales.
