You know what they say: When the stock market goes down, hem lines go down, too; but apparently advertising gets inversely pornier. The Standard New York hotel, which is sort of opened in the Meatpacking District, is still pushing its $195-a-night construction special rate hard. The soft opening, which began Dec. 10, sought to entice guests to try out Andre Balaz's luxe new hotel while it was still in the process of going up.
Though it can't hold a candle to recent American Apparel online ads in terms of sleaze, the new ad featuring a lady wearing just a tool belt and a smile seems to entice guests to try out something else. Heck, what happens at The Standard, stays at The Standard. [BlackBook]
