During a recent sojourn in New York, BBC Radio correspondent David Willis got down with the popular culture at one of the city's trendy boutique hotels. Not for long though: Shocked and awed by his room's "hipster-chic Alice in Wonderland décor," Willis made a beeline for the classic Hotel Chelsea. Further dismay ensued, as the Chelsea's manager informed Willis that the hotel's future "lies in flat screen televisions, in-house movies, mini-bars, and i-pod docking stations."
