King & Prince of Dumbo Convince City to Love Dock St. School

The controversial Two Trees Building on Dock Street in Dumbo may or may never be built (and there's certainly super bitter opposition to it), but it looks like the NY City Department of Education is behind the thing. The building would include a school for 416 students and the Walentases have used it as a major selling point for the luxe condo building, which some say would interfere with views of the Brooklyn Bridge. A city document says "five districts in Brooklyn will see growth over the next five years. District 13, contains a substantial surplus of space given current enrollment levels but is projected to need a school building in the DUMBO/Navy Yard/Fort Greene area. This is primarily due to projected housing growth." In any case, that's the rendering of the school in the Dock Street complex above. Looks like the school strategy may be working for King David and Prince Jed.
