Central Park, Coney Island Set Sail on $1.4B Boat

Folks have tried to recreate parts of New York City elsewhere (remember the "East Village" planned for Las Vegas?), but an NYC-at-sea is definitely a new concept. Royal Caribbean is currently building a massive new cruise ship called Oasis of the Seas in Finland, and the future world's largest ocean liner may look a little familiar to New Yorkers. Or...maybe not. While the 28 "New York-style" duplex loft suites certainly have a new-development vibe to them, the ship's "Central Park" and Coney Island-inspired "Boardwalk" probably won't be mistaken for the originals in a line-up. The cruise ship versions do have their advantages, however: buffets and slot machines are never more than a few steps away, which is more than we can say for this calorie-counting, puritanical prison of a town!
