There was pandamonium nearly everywhere in Brooklyn last night after the Barack Obama victory. People poured into the streets in Fort Green, Park Slope, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, Flatbush and just about very neighborhood. Nowhere, apparently, was the party more spirited than on our old friend Bedford Avenue, the one time Center of the Universe for all things hipster. Per Free Williamsburg: "Brooklyn kids fucking totally filled these streets. Some would call it a riot, but even the cops tonight realized that things were cool. It was the most celebratory street take-over I've experienced, sans-broken shit, and up until I left there was no threat of police violence, overturned cars, broken bottles, or anything." Per INSIJS: "Williamsburg residents poured out into the streets, blocking traffic at hipster Ground Zero for several hours while NYPD choppers circled overhead. Like a scene from the late 60's, Williamsburg residents crowded hipster 'Ground Zero' from midnight 'til 3 am in a massive outpouring of emotions."
