We can't let the day slip by without noting this item about one vision of future affordable housing. it's not specific to New York City, but it's so easy to see these babies plopped onto cleaned up toxic sites around, say, Brooklyn or the Bronx. They're converted shipping containers that are 40 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8½ feet tall. The 320-square-foot homes have kitchens, bathrooms, sleeping areas and windows and each one has a hook up for air conditioning, ventilation, electrical and water systems. They come from an outfit called PFNC. Sure, they're designed for, like Juarez, but were seeing total shores of Newtown Creek potential here.
