    1) Lower East Side: UrbanDaddy reported this week on the opening of a new Italian resutaurant called Sonia Rose which apparently features some kind of bizarre theatrical gimmicks. They write: “So, while you're biting into your Free Range Hen with Perigourdine Sauce and Truffle Oil Game Liver, the live-string quartet on the front stage will be playing a piece that seems to go well with hen.” An early reviewer seems pleased: “The salmon with the lightest hue of green curry & market vegetables was cooked superbly. And the Hangar steak with port wine reduction and delicious swiss chard was balanced and delightful with the BYOB bottle of Cabernet we brought." Status: Certified Open. 74 Orchard Street; 212-260-5317. [UD]

    2) Midtown: The seemingly rapid expansion of cupcake mecca Magnolia Bakery rolls into midtown this week with the opening of a new Rock Center location. From the press release: “The new Rockefeller Center location, also a corner brownstone, respectfully harkens back to the original décor of its sister locations and offers the charming vintage ambiance that has become synonymous with the Magnolia name.” Status: Opening Party tonight. Official Opening on Monday. 1240 Avenue of the Americas; 212.767.1123. [Eater Inbox]

    3) Flatiron: A publicist writes in to inform us on the opening of tbsp, a new lunch/breakfast spot that expands on the already established catering and takeout spot, Spoon, next door. It’s been soft-open since August but the full menu just launched last week. She writes: “At tbsp you will find her local small batch jams, buttermilk pancakes mix, chicken potpies that take you back to your grandmother's kitchen in the country, and the best ever sticky buns made daily." Status: Certified Open. 17 W. 20th Street; 646-230-7000. [Eater Inbox]

    4) Park Slope: Both TONY and Flo Fab report on the opening of Bussaco, a new wine bar from Scott Carney. The former writes: “Sommelier-turned-restaurateur Scott Carney (Gotham Bar & Grill) brings a bistro embellished with homegrown oak salvaged from Prospect Park to the Slope. Matthew Schaefer (Le Bernardin) is in the kitchen, turning out entrées including slow-roasted pork with hominy succotash.” Status: Not Open. Opening Tomorrow. 833 Union Street, Park Slope; 718-857-8828. [TONY; NYT]

    5) Murray Hill: Flo Fab also does a short write-up on the opening of Dhaba in Murray Hill’s Curry Row. She writes: “Shiva Natarajan, who owns Chola, opens this Northern Indian place today, with classics, snack foods and British-style curry dishes. Status: Unknown. No answer to calls. 108 Lexington Avenue; 212-679-1284. [NYT]

    6) Upper East Side: The Times also includes a brief blurb on Fulton. They write: "Joe Gurrera, who owns the Citarella stores, opens a neighborhood-friendly fish house today, with specialties by Jeremy Culver like scallops with crispy pork.” Status: Certified Open. 205 East 75th Street, (212) 288-6600. [NYT]

    7) Bed-Stuy: Bed-StuyBlog via Word BK has the scoop that a new bar called Sweet Revenge (not the cupcake joint) has opened on Franklin Ave. They write: “...The bar is located on Franklin Avenue and you can click over to Word BK’s post to have a look around the spot. It’s sleek and cool and it’s just what the doctor ordered.” The blog Word BK also has some early inside photos. Status: Certified Open. 348 Franklin Avenue; 718-398-2472. [BedStuyBlog; Word BK]
