2005_10_eater38logo.jpgNow that the calendar has turned to November, it's time to update the 38 most essential restaurants in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles—or as we've dubbed the list in each of those cities, the Eater 38. To quickly recap the purpose here, the Eater 38 is the answer to the age-old question that begins "Can you recommend a restaurant…" Each edition of the 38 is a city-specific list spanning myriad cuisines and, collectively, satisfying all restaurant needs, except for maybe those occasions where an entire paycheck must be blown.

At the beginning of every month, each city's Eater 38 will evolve, with new restaurants joining as others fall off. Chief among the half-dozen or so newcomers this time around are Mario Batali's Spanish standout Casa Mono in New York, San Francisco's breakout hit of the summer Flour + Water and downtown LA's Drago Centro. Without further ado, here are the updated lists in full:

    · The 38 Most Essential New York Restaurants [Eater NY]
    · The 38 Most Essential San Francisco Restaurants [Eater SF]
    · The 38 Most Essential Los Angeles Restaurants [Eater LA]

And as if these weren't enough, stay tuned for brand new editions of the Eater 38 from Eater's newly-launched Miami and Portland in the coming weeks...
