Cheesy, melty news from the people over at Slice, the Pizza blog: Rizzo's, the joint that's been shoveling some of the best pizza in Queens (and that's saying something) since Joe Rizzo set up shop on Steinway Street in Astoria in 1959, is celebrating its half-century anniversary in style. To mark the red-sauce milestone, Rizzo's will be offering a bevy of 50-cent specials starting this weekend and running through the end of May. Slice has a detailed schedule of the deals, but may we suggest marking your calendar for 5/9 (when they start offering 50-cent gelati and cannoli) and 5/30 (when two legendary slices will run you a single dollar)? Also, you know you're gong to need a $5 Rizzo's t-shirt, to rock your slice-love with pride.
