Chelsea: Back in April, Food Bar, "Gay Chelsea's ground zero," shuttered, purportedly due to lease woes. And, as you can see above, the place is currently being completely gutted. However, according to a tipster, there has been a vital change in the signage: "Sign on door of storefront had been switched from 'Sorry employees...' to say 'CLOSED FOR REMODELING.' Might just be true?" We wouldn't have much faith except for the fact that there was an attempt by an "Italian entrepreneur" back in April to save the place. His comment then: "Should we succeed, soon a huge sign will cover the windows saying 'we'll be back in..., after renovation...'" Might. Just. Be. True.
