Monday Opening Report: Ella This Week, Kenny's Trattoria, ‘wichcraft Certified Open

1) East Village: Update: We previously reported two weeks back that exclusive “referral-only” piano bar Ella pushed its opening up to October 1st. This week, Thrillist claims it will officially open this Thursday, the 2nd and writes: “Ella's opening Thursday, reservations are referral only, and the door policy is doorman's discretion -- so there's a decent chance you'll be stranded outside with Paul and Davy, who's still in the Navy, and probably still hasn't finished The Duplex Supremacy.” Sounds fun. Status: Not Open. Signs point to it opening on Thursday. 9 Avenue A; 212.777.2230. [Thrillist]

2) Williamsburg: The owners of the now-shuttered Brick Oven Gallery checked in with us on the opening of their new restaurant, Kenny’s Trattoria last Tuesday. They write: “Kenny's Trattoria is an Italian restaurant with a menu offering homemade pasta dishes, including a homemade ravioli of the day, and several chicken, pork, beef and seafood dishes. Patrons of Brick Oven Gallery will recognize some of the dishes such as the Brooklyn Caviar, Brick Oven Shrimp, Orichietti and the same over sized salads.” Status: Certified Open as of last Tuesday. 7 Withers Street; no phone yet. 3) Herald Square: Midtown Lunch via a tip from Food in Mouth has it that another ‘wichcraft kiosk has opened in Greeley Square at 32nd and 6th. They write: “Danny from Food in Mouth sends along this info about the new ‘wichcraft location in Greeley Square: '32nd St. wichcraft is open now. They got employees in there and everything seems set up. They got a 'cash only' sign up front.' Sure the sandwiches are small, and expensive- but if you order correctly, there is a way for to get out of wichcraft satisfied for under $10.” Status: Certified Open.
