Katie Lee Joel To Go Italian In The Hamptons?

Is it a rumor worth reporting? Maybe. It goes like this: Billy Joel is shopping around the Hamptons for a restaurant for his much younger and allegedly straying wife, Katie Lee. As Perez Hilton so eloquently put it this morning, "We guess you have to spend the money to keep the young ones!" Fairly convincing.

Katie had been rumored to be looking for a restaurant near Wall Street, with food based on her southern upbringing, which seems to make more sense than the Perez-reported rumor of a red-sauce joint on Long Island. But maybe she's got a little Mama Leone in her and Billy can bring in the bottle of red, a bottle of white.

TMZ reports that the location for this Italian joint is Sag Harbor, where Joel lived for years, and is in fact where the couple met (when Katie Lee was hostessing at Jeff and Eddie's fish place on Main St.) Joel might have his pick of seaside locations for his Uptown girl, but one seems most likely. Eddie "Jean Luc" Kleefeld's JLX has lain vacant all spring and shows no signs of activity as JL fights off creditors on all fronts, so this might be the most likely spot for bayside scenes from an Italian restaurant.
