Eating Restaurant Week: Métrazur

What to eat during Summer Restaurant Week at Charlie Palmer’s seasonal American joint at Grand Central.

Summer Restaurant Week is on. Through July 31, out of the 250+ eateries participating, we bring you a crib sheet to our favorites.

Métrazur
East Balcony at Grand Central Terminal, 42nd Street at Park Avenue, 212-687-4600; charliepalmer.com/Properties/Metrazur/

Why: The location’s a knockout, perched on a balcony with views of the 80,000-sq.-ft. Main Concourse under the twinkling night-sky zodiac. Get past the froufrou touches (like a wine list that calls itself an “anthology”) and beeline for the food: There’s rarely a wrong note anywhere in Charlie Palmer’s lineup of American-with-a-touch-of-Mediterranean dishes.

What to order off the RW menu: For lunch, try an appetizer of tender baby lettuces from Penfield, N.Y.’s Saturn Farms with a Dijon vinaigrette and crisp seared dorado with fingerling taters, beluga lentils and frisée. Squid ink risotto with wood-oven roasted prawns and smoked paprika is a dinner-menu must, and we’d pair it with the char-grilled flatiron steak, Vidalia onion marmalade, and a gorgonzola beignet (blue cheese in doughnut form – what’s not to love?). On both menus, bring it home with the for the plum cobbler and lemon crème crème fraîche ice cream. (See the full menus here and here.)

During Restaurant Week, lunch at participating establishments is $24.07, dinner $35.00. Reserve early.
