ADDICTIVE:Florence Welch–a.k.a. Florence & the Machine–plays a much-awaited show at Terminal 5. We can’t wait to hear the gothic circus of sounds from her gorgeous debut album “Lungs” brought to life onstage. (And we’re also hoping for a few cover surprises, like this haunting retool of Beyoncé’s “Halo” she did on BBC Radio1). 8PM.
GIANT: Kicking off today, BAMcinématek presents Jean Renoir (through May 11), a five-week retrospective of films directed by one of cinema’s forefathers. Silent films to soundies, war dramas (like the classic “Grand Illusion”) to comedies, Paris to Hollywood. The opening night offer is “Toni,” 1935’s poetic foray into neo-realism, centering around a young Italian laborer living in France who’s caught between two women. 6:50, 9PM.
