Take the NYC BBQ Tour, skip meals the rest of the week.

ON THE BONE: A crawl of Manhattan ’cue joints may seem like more of a Friday-night kind of endeavor – if you’re chicken. Suck it up and join guide Avi Ohring for the NYC BBQ Tour, stopping at Blue Smoke, the Hog Pit, Hill Country and more for samples and back-kitchen meet-and-greets with the tong-wielding geniuses who smoke and season some of the island’s most luscious meat. Meet in the Flatiron at 6PM; reservations required, more info at nycbbqtour.com.

CLEAR-EYED: When the US invaded Iraq in 2003, First Lieutenant Mike Scotti was among the first troops deployed to Baghdad; somehow, he had the presence of mind to carry a mini-DV camera with him. Hours of his footage have been pared down by documentarian Kristian Fraga into “Severe Clear,” a rare firsthand account of the daily lives of men in combat. It’s already garnered comparisons to Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket” and film-fest accolades all over. See it at the Angelika through Thursday; times vary.

HOMESPUN: Singer-songwriter Hanne Hukkelberg is a little bit country (only the country is Norway), a little bit folk, and bluesy in that home-brewed-tea-on-the-back-porch kind of way. She brings her sound, a kind of hybrid of Feist and Madeleine Peyroux, to Santos Party House as part of the Oh My Rockness and Oya Festival pre-SXSW send-off show, where she’ll join bands like the Depreciation Guild and fellow Norwegians Megaphonic Thrift. 7PM.
