Come hungry to the The Brooklyn Taco Experiment.

AMAIZING RACE: Theo Peck and Nick Suarez, the hungry gents behind the food cookoffs that have been all over the place recently, present a doozy: The Brooklyn Taco Experiment. Amateur chefs will dazzle, flaunting their tortilla-stuffing prowess and feeding the hordes before a panel of esteemed culinary judges (e.g. Dave Vendley of the Calexico Cart, Andrew Knowlton of Iron Chef and Bon Appetit) delivers the verdict. A portion of ticket sales will help support Ovarian Cancer Research. Sunday, 1-5PM.

4 WHEELS, NO DOGS: The Idiotarod (not a typo) riffs on the Alaskan race with a day of zany contests involving teams of people careening around New York with shopping carts. And you can join them! Saturday, starts in Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria, Queens, Saturday, 9AM.

PERFECT PAIRING: For the 5th Annual Sausage and Beer Dinner at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, the establishment's chefs (Adam Kaye, Josh Lawler, and Trevor Kunk) gather with Beer Sommelier (!) Michael Greenberg and a coterie of local farmers and craft brewers for a pork-centric evening of fresh and cured sausages and meats, all paired with local suds (from names like Captain Lawrence and Kelso). For reservations, head here. Sunday, 5PM.

REMINDER: 60+ beers, 40+ bourbons and a whole mess of pig await you at the First Annual NYC Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival at Chelsea’s la.venue on Saturday (starting at noon for VIP pass holders). 5-9PM.
