It-Label Balmain to Launch Handbags

French label Balmain has already become a red-hot celebrity favorite, worn by stars like Rihanna, Michael Jackson (yes, Michael Jackson), and most recently Beyonce, who wore the line's shorter-than-short sequin minidress to the BET Awards. Granted, the look didn't garner amazing reviews across the board, but the designer's star appeal can't be denied.
Now, WWD reports that Balmain is going to dive into the handbag market, which tends to be highly lucrative for any high-end designer (especially now, when most people are spending on "investment pieces" over, say, sparkly minidresses). According to WWD, the company is currently showing Paris retailers about a half dozen different styles, ranging from "black leather messenger bags pavéd with crystals or studs, and a fringed, rock ’n’ roll number with silver hardware." Guess we should start saving up now ...
