Swing-heavy Vince Giordano and his Nighthawks are so old-school, they wrap back around to modern.

JUMP, JIVE, WAIL: New York’s swing-heavy past lives through Vince Giordano and his band the Nighthawks, who never reduce anything to simple retro-jump classics. They’ll be at Club Cache at Sofia’s, at 8PM.

PREACH: The Reverend Vince Anderson is a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a whole lot gospel preacher if your church was run by, say. Tom Waits. His music is as witty as it is profound. Check it out at Williamsburg’s Union Pool at 8PM.

AWKWARD?: Oh boy: Bona fide actors who’ve learned lines jump into the improv fray with workers from the old guard of fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants comedy. The result is Gravid Water (we're not sure what that name is about either) at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre at 8PM.
