Christmas comes early for the Rockettes, who'll kick off another "Spectacular" season today on Sixth Avenue.
It’s just another hot August day on Sixth Avenue: Traffic jams, hot dog carts, and Santa stopping traffic. As snow falls gently on the baking asphalt.
The Radio City Rockettes will be donning their seasonal finery to kick off (there, we said it) the 2010 “Spectacular” with Christmas in August in front of Radio City Music Hall at 3PM. Santa Claus will be there, wearing a red poly-blend fur suit in August -- may we suggest some Vitamin Water? -- and so will NY Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes. Get it? They’re all kickers, see.
Best part! Radio City’s Ladies in Red won’t be the only ones with toes to the sky. In order to set the record for New York City’s Longest Kickline, they’ll be enlisting ordinary citizens to join in and strut their stuff. The first 250 people to sign up will get two tickets to an exclusive "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" performance. It’s beginning to look a lot like… you know.
