Hot Ticket: ‘Beer Wars' Premiere & Tasting

Small brewers take on big beer in this engaging documentary, served up with a flight of beer and Murray’s cheeses at Bell House tonight.

Tonight, take in the Brooklyn premiere of ‘Beer Wars,’ director Anat Baron’s investigation into the politics and power plays of the American beer industry, where big companies (like Anheuser-Busch, pre-InBev purchase) and little companies (like Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, whose founder is featured in the film) battle it out for market share. (Baron’s insight is unique: She’s the former General Manager of Mike's Hard Lemonade.)

Of course, it would be just cruel to have you sit through a full-length feature documentary about beer and not serve you any; luckily, Bell House is hosting a special edition of its brew-and-curds tasting series Flight Club to coincide with the screening. In addition to the movie ticket, your $20 ticket gets you a sampling of four craft beers (from some of the breweries featured in the film) paired with Murray's cheeses. Post-screening, Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver (who also shows up onscreen) will talk about his own experience with brewing small in a big industry.
