Blank Space in Downtown Brooklyn to Become Artists' Canvas

Artists are being asked to re-imagine a 20-block area of downtown Brooklyn by covering every blank surface with their art.

The "Re-imagining the Wall'' is a project of the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn Business Improvement District. The group is inviting 100 artists to submit designs for sidewalk sheds, parking lot fences and other blank surfaces.

Each design must include ideas for the facade above the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway entrance and the facade of the Bond Street Parking Garage.

The winning design will be installed by the summer.
