8/22-23: Hudson River Park Blues BBQ Fest

Ribs and rhythm land on Sunday, plus a Dorothy Parker walk and cornsicles!

PERFECT PAIR: The 10th Annual Hudson River Park Blues BBQ Fest rolls into town on Sunday: Bring a blanket and hear down ‘n dirty blues from the likes of Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater and Eden Brent while you suck down ‘cue from Brother Jimmy’s BBQ and more. Sunday, 2-9PM.

GIRLS WHO WEAR GLASSES: On the Dorothy Parker Society’s Algonquin Round Table Tour, trawl 40+ locales throughout Midtown, following in the footsteps of Parker, Harpo Marx, Harold Ross and the rest of the Vicious Circle. Finish with martinis, darling. Saturday, starts at 11:45AM.

PLUGGED: Laptop-music-mashup maestro Girl Talk – who’s not a girl at all, but a guy named Gregg Michael Gillis who looks a lot like Jesus, if Jesus did one of those “I’m a PC” commercials and crowd-surfed at his own shows – headlines the Williamsburg Waterfront Concert. East River State Park, Sunday, 2PM.

HUSKY: Reason No. 1 to trek to the Brooklyn Flea this weekend (as if you need a reason beyond those lobster rolls): the frozen-treat purveyors at People’s Pops are making sweet cream corn pops. (With blackberry, but who cares about that when you get to use the word “cornsicle”?). Find them in Fort Greene Saturday and DUMBO Sunday.

TWOSOME: She’s known for smoky vocals and sultry phrasing, he’s known as one of New Orleans’ greatest living pianists. Lizz Wright and Allen Toussaint come together for a free Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors show at Damrosch Bandshell on Saturday at 7PM.
