1/9-10: Jeff Bridges, Dorothy Parker's Lost Poems…

…and a lineup of artists reviving vaudeville, country swing and more

RESTLESS MINDS: Perennially underrated actor Jeff Bridges is more creatively thirsty and just plain interesting than nearly all his industry contemporaries – just check out his website, with its curious doodles and photo scrapbook, and tell us if you’d expect the same kind of Byrne-ian wackadoo behavior from Mel Gibson or Michael Douglas. The star of the film “Crazy Heart” discusses it, the Oscar buzz his role has generated and everything else as part of the Times’ Arts & Lesiure Weekend at the TimesCenter, Sunday, 8PM.

PARKED: Story goes that a bartender asked Dorothy Parker "What are you having?" and she replied, “Not much fun.” It’s these zingers the famously miserable writer is best known for, so the arrival of a book of recently discovered material is cause for celebration: Stu Silverstein, the man behind “Not Much Fun: The Lost Poems of Dorothy Parker”, discusses the book, and the woman, at Idlewild Books, Sunday, 4PM.

VARIETY: The Charisma Talent Agency’s client roster reads like something from another era, and this weekend, they offer up a musical showcase at 92YTribeca running from the mod swing of Two Man Gentlemen Band to the dark wit of self-dubbed “circus composer” Sxip Shirey to the neo-honky tonk of Christabel and the Jons. 7PM doors, 8PM show.

And don't forget: Brooklyn Based's big wedding-planning fair, Wedding Crashers, is at Bell House on Saturday.
