PUNK’D: Mechanical monstrosities! Steam-powered cyborgs! Prowl through the century-old playhouse of Abrons Art Center’s Henry Street Settlement for the Steampunk Haunted House, a haunting of a different stripe. It’s a little Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a little Mad Max, and a little Brazil, especially that scene where Katherine Helmond goes under the knife and you almost lose your lunch. Zach Morris and Third Rail Projects are behind this annual Abrons tradition. 8PM.
LONG DEAD: Manufactured haunted house “experiences” are one thing – but prowling through a dimly-lit home in which real people died more than a century ago is entirely another. Tonight, the Merchant’s House Museum – once home to a prosperous merchant family with names like Gertrude and Seabury – shares its more unsavory history with you. On a candlelight tour of the house The Times calls “Manhattan’s most haunted,” hear tales of its paranormal history and take in scenes of mid-19th century death and mourning. Good times. Tours run from 6-10PM (also on 10/30).
HIGH CAMP: Guilty pleasure "Labyrinth" is like a time capsule of ’80s cheese, from David Bowie's Tina Turner wig, to a very (very) young Jennifer Connelly, whose Oscar-winning future could never be gleaned from this performance. Part of 92YTribeca's Sing-Along series and Fright Fest series, this screening of Jim Henson’s cult classic doubles as a costume party for added awesomeness. 10PM.
