Underground Theater: All the Subway's a Stage

Actors plan “IRT: A Tragedy in Three Stations”

You've heard of Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway. Now comes Under Broadway.

“IRT: A Tragedy in Three Stations” will be staged in the New York City subway system. On the trains. As they're moving.

A project of Subway Theater, the new play will be staged January 29, 30 and 31 plus February 5, 6 and 7.

"Little expense and much cunning brings forth lavish sets and luxurious costumes that will exceed any-thing visualized or conceived on this moving stage in many a fortnight," the troupe promises on its websites.

The Post tagged along for a rehearsal.

Official tickets sold out Tuesday, but you might still catch the performance if they happen to board your train.
