What: Rooms for two at the Pod Hotel at 51st Street and 3rd Avenue. Just like the name suggests, the rooms are compact, mod (kind of feels like you're sleeping in an Ikea showroom), and heavy on hip amenities (mp3 docks, LCD TVs). Plus: Roof garden!
Why you need it: You crave a staycation (but can't afford one), or you're looking to make your guest room/pullout couch a little less popular with out-of-towners (who've complained that the hotel rates in NYC are too high).
How much: The Pod's April special is just $69. You can barely get a decent bed near JFK for that.
