Lou Reed to attend Dutch-inspired performance

April 30 will be a perfect day in New York City.

That's how it will sound at least, if you're on the Upper West Side near Riverside Church, which will play a free carillon concert of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

And yes, Reed will be present for the performance, which will be best heard in the parks surrounding Riverside Church.

Carillon 2009 Perfect Day will take place simultaneously in New York and in the Netherlands, where they'll celebrate Queen's Day. (Since 1998, "Perfect Day" has played every 15 minutes on the carillon in Goes, the Netherlands on every Queen's Day.)

The Carillon at Riverside Church includes the 20-ton Bourdon, the largest and heaviest carillon bell ever cast.

Also Thursday, New York City will also take delivery of 200 free bikes as a gift from the Dutch government in celebration of 400 years of friendship.

Both events are part of NY400, he multi-month celebration marking of Captain Henry Hudson's arrival at the river that now bears his name.
