Gluttony, Strippers Reign at Philly Wing Bowl

A New Jersey man nicknamed Super Squibb has won Philadelphia's Wing Bowl by downing 203 chicken wings in about 20 minutes.

For his efforts, 23-year-old John Squibb of Berlin gets a car, a $7,500 diamond ring and a crown of miniature chickens.

Thousands were on hand Friday for the gorge-fest, which is held every year on the Friday before the Super Bowl. The contest, sponsored by Philadelphia sports-talk station WIP-AM, also features scantily clad “Wingettes'' and a cast of sickened contestants.

Professional eaters were not allowed in this year's Wing Bowl, but organizers say they'll be back next year.

Richard “Not Rich'' Razzi came in second by eating 180 wings.

Heading into the competition Squibb was a virtual unknown. But, he was unfazed -- rightly so -- taking down the competition.

"I had ideas of grandeur heading into it... but I never expected this," said Squibb about his win.

Razzi, who is homeless, is unsure if he will be returning to the competition in 2010 because he is "getting old now."

On finishing second: "It sucks to lose," he said.

Third place was a tie for Henry “Hank the Tank” Goldey of Philadelphia, PA, and Don “Da Disposal” James of Woolwich, NJ with 153 wings.
