Ida Siegal joined News 4 New York in January 2003 as a General Assignment Reporter. Siegal files reports for the station’s 5PM, 6PM and 11PM newscasts.  Previously, she served as a reporter for WNBC’s “Today in New York” which airs weekdays from 5-7AM.

Siegal has covered a variety of stories including Emmy-Award winning coverage of the 2005 news chopper crash; the Howard Beach bias attack; the December 2005 transit strike; the Blizzard of 2003; the Broadway musicians strike; the aftermath of the shooting of Councilman James Davis; and the Martha Stewart trial.

Siegal began her career at News 12 in the Bronx as a reporter in 1999 and then was promoted to anchor in 2000. While there, she also served as a freelance reporter and anchor for News 12 Long Island covering community stories on education, crime and politics.  She broke numerous stories while at News 12 and provided live continuous coverage for the September 11th terrorist attacks; the Amadou Diallo trial; and the threatened MTA transit strike.  Siegal was also first to report the conviction of the “Vieques Four” from a federal prison in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

Siegal graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Public Policy.  While attending Syracuse University, Siegal lived in Hong Kong where she interned at NBC Asia.

A New York City native, Siegal lives in Manhattan.
