Alex Vallis comes from New York magazine where she edited the online restaurant section and received a James-Beard nomination for her work at Grub Street. She wrote about the cheap pleasure of Costco sheet cake for Saveur, and began living to eat during a childhood punctuated by lambs roasted on spits, tinfoil buffet pans of manicotti, and dibs on the big piece of chicken.
