FEMA Closing Conn. Disaster Recovery Offices

Federal officials say they're set to close three disaster recovery centers in Connecticut that were set up to help people affected by severe spring storms and flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the centers in Gorton, Norwalk and Norwich will close Thursday. They opened in early June.

Homeowners, renters and business owners should register for help online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362 before visiting the centers.

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is July 27.

The agency says that by the first week of June, more than $1.2 million in disaster aid had been provided to more than 1,000 Connecticut households affected by flooding in March.

Nearly 1,200 individuals and households had applied.
