Double Dutch Rope Teams Compete in Harlem

Jump rope teams from around the world are in Harlem for the 17th Annual Double Dutch Holiday Classic.

The competition at the Apollo Theater draws teams from France, Belgium and the Virgin Islands.

Double Dutch is a rope-skipping exercise in which two ropes are turned like an egg beater and a third person jumps in.

The game originated in New York City and has grown into a competitive sport that is popular as far away as Japan.
